What clients say

★★★★★
Oran is the best when it comes to finding the perfect insurance for you and your family! That is hard to find as an independent contractor! Oran is very knowledgeable and knows how to save you money. Highly recommend Oran! 20/10

I recently was let go at my 9-5 where I've been for the past 5 years and Oran's been a life-saver! I have a young family and a daughter with special health needs, so having a very affordable and comprehensive health plan is such a blessing. Getting signed up also only took 30-45 minutes.
Emily Leavitt Madsen , young family
★★★★★
Took the time to carefully explain to me how my income affects prices, make sure I was not being taken advantage of, make sure I had the best plan with the best bang for my buck. When I had questions, he made sure I felt like they weren't silly, that I was heard and I was educated on my choices.

Self-employed questions

Can self-employed people get ACA tax credits?
Yes. Tax credits are based on household income, not employment type. Many self-employed people qualify, and the self-employed health insurance deduction may lower your taxable income on top of that.
What income do I put on a Marketplace application?
Your best estimate of next year's net self-employment income (after business expenses) plus any other household income. We help you pick a realistic number and remind you to update it if the year goes differently.
Is a private plan better for freelancers?
Often, if you're healthy and don't qualify for a big tax credit. Private plans can be cheaper with lower deductibles and PPO networks, but they ask health questions. We quote both so you can compare total yearly cost.
Can I deduct my health insurance premiums?
Usually, yes. Self-employed people can generally deduct premiums for themselves, a spouse and dependents, as long as they weren't eligible for an employer plan. Confirm the details with your tax professional.
What if my income changes mid-year?
Update your Marketplace application. Your tax credit adjusts, which avoids owing money back or missing out at tax time. We can walk you through the update in a few minutes.
